I am super excited to be promoting a few school-based health services with this charity ride. The school-based health resource centers are available in four different school districts and the Growing through Grief program supports over 100 schools across 16 different school districts. The services both programs provide have had such positive impacts in their communities with very positive feedback from participants. I was able to tour the school-based resource center at the Richfield location recently and was so impressed by the facility and accessibility to the students. Attached right to the school, these resource centers can be accessed by students as well as community members. They provide a variety of services for no cost to those who may not have access to care outside of school.
I also had the chance to meet with Nicole Barnes, the program manager for the Growing through Grief program, and was moved by everything this program is doing for students and the positive response it receives from those who use these services. One in 13 children in Minnesota have lost of a loved one and Growing through Grief provides these students counseling and support as they work through the grieving process at no cost to them. Services provided can be in a one-on-one setting or a group setting as children discuss their emotions and remember their loved ones. The people leading this program are truly passionate about giving support to every student that needs it. Both the school-based resource centers and the Growing through Grief program are provided at no cost and provide such a valuable service. The goal of this ride is to raise money so these programs can continue to provide for their communities and continue to expand over time. Please check out the charity link to learn more details about each program and donate if you would like to support either one of these amazing programs.
