Final day! Winona to Iowa

We made it! We crossed the border into Iowa today after another beautiful ride. More bluffs along the entire route made for pretty views and our first tailwind of the entire trip made for faster speeds. We did have to closely monitor the weather today with storms predicted all day and dark clouds overhead. We somehow managed to only have to ride in the rain for two miles and it just happened to be the two miles my parents passed us on the road. We were able to quickly ditch our gear and pedal without the extra weight for the last 10 miles. Huge thank you to my parents who both dropped us off in Itasca at the start of the trip and picked us up at the Iowa border this afternoon. Not sure how we would have pulled off this adventure without your help!

I have loved traveling through Minnesota over the past week at an ideal pace to see places and views only a bike can provide. I have enjoyed sharing the trip with others through the blog and in person and receiving such encouraging words from so many. I am also so grateful to all those who donated, as the ultimate goal of the this ride was to raise awareness for some great programs. Thank you for following along and feel free to continue to donate over the next week on behalf of the Mississippi River Ride.

Congratulations to both of you! I feel so inspired by what you just did. As a counselor for Growing Through Grief, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for supporting our program. I will be telling my students about your ride in the fall!
